Dear *|FNAME|*,

It’s time to focus on local elections. Look up your local legislator and see if you can help out with their re-election (if you like them) and/or a new candidate’s campaign: http://mapserve1.leg.state.nv.us/whoRU/

Response appreciated! Would you like me to include their events in the newsletter?

On a personal note, I am not going to be as available to work on Indivisible as I would like going forward. I would appreciate help in going to events (and reporting on them at meetings!), bringing events to my attention to share, and finding guest speakers for our meetings.

With Coronavirus in the news, the need for nationwide paid sick leave (a few of our members went up to Carson City to fight for this bill, SB312 with Time to Care NV last year) and accessible health care is more urgent than ever. Here is the Indivisible page on what actions to take with our legislators regarding the virus: https://indivisible.org/resource/what-tell-your-members-congress-do-about-coronavirus

Demand that Congress stop war with Iran.
The House may vote this week on Sen. Kaine’s war powers resolution (S.J.Res.68) that would prevent Trump from waging war with Iran unless Congress authorizes it. Call your MoC this week to tell them to vote Yes on the Kaine war powers resolution.

Demand that your Representative support the #NoBanAct.
This week, the House will vote on the No Ban Act to repeal Trump’s Muslim Ban. The ban was one of the first executive actions Trump announced when he took office, and since then he has only made it broader and more severe. Use the resources at the #NoMuslimBanEver campaign website linked here to contact your Representative and tell them to #RepealTheBan!

Tell your Representative it’s time to end surprise medical bills.
Every day, over 10,000 families in the United States receive a surprise medical bill. Congress needs to act to protect patients, and in the process hold down health care costs for families and the health system overall. Call your Representative and tell them to end surprise medical bills for health services!

Text PAYBACK to 977-79 and join this fight right now.
Even in the three weeks since we launched this project, we’ve already seen twists and turns and had to drop everything to respond to new Republican schemes. We know that’s not going to stop, which is why we need even more folks texting, donating, and joining local groups as we continue to get payback now until the election!

No Deal of the Century

Public · Hosted by Nevadans for Palestinian Human Rights and JVP-Las Vegas
The Venetian Resort: 3355 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109

Tell Trump and the Republican Jewish Committee that Trump’s so called “peace plan” is a farce.

Please join us on Saturday, March 14 from 11 am to 1 pm in front of the Venetian to protest outside the annual meeting of the Republican Jewish Committee featuring Donald J Trump.

Created with no input from Palestinians, this plan reinforces Israel’s apartheid rule over millions of Palestinians and denies Palestinians their basic human rights.

The plan  has energized the illegal settlement movement and propelled Netanyahu to an election victory while doing everything possible to suppress the movement for Palestinian rights.

The Iraqi parliament voted unanimously to demand that U.S. troops leave Iraq. Millions of Iraqis have taken to the streets demanding that the occupation of their country end. Donald Trump has refused to leave and threatened to seize Iraqi’s oil revenues if the Iraqi government follows through on its demands. 17 years ago the U.S. illegally carried out a war of aggression against Iraq based on a lie. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis died. Tens of thousands of American soldiers either died or suffered life changing injuries.

The occupation of Iraq must end immediately! We are also demanding an end to economic sanctions directed against the people of Iran, Iraq and elsewhere. Join us in a protest in your city or town on the 17th anniversary of the U.S. occupation of Iraq to demand: U.S. Troops Out of Iraq NOW! End Sanctions on Iran, U.S. Out of the Middle East!
